How long will an ant farm survive without a queen?

This will depend if you have only workers or if there are larvae and pupae also present.  On average a worker can live 3 months to 2 years, so you can do the math from when the queen died to figure out the time left for your ant colony.

This is good news; Dr. Moreau, I may need some advice on where to go from here. Where might I order an ant farm for a high school bio lab? I have seen the insectkits web sit but haven't found them helpful in answering my questions.
